Tales proudly joins PanNature to restore Vietnam’s forests

Cuisine and environment might seem like two separate worlds, but at Tales by Chapter, they meet in a deeply meaningful journey. When enjoying a meal, guests not only savor the delicate plant-based flavors but also help sow green seeds for Vietnam’s forests. This is the spirit behind the collaboration between Tales and PanNature – the first zero-waste, plant-based restaurant in Vietnam joining hands with a conservation organization to connect dining tables with forested landscapes.

When culinary stories intertwine with forest tales

The connection between Tales and PanNature is more than a simple partnership between a plant-based, zero-waste restaurant and a reputable Vietnamese conservation organization. Tales by Chapter adheres steadfastly to the philosophy “eat clean – live green – respect nature”, while PanNature, the People and Nature Reconciliation Center, is a nonprofit working for biodiversity, forest restoration, and ecosystem protection.

Tales and PanNature – When culinary stories connect with forest tales

From “farm-to-table” to responsibility for Vietnam’s forests

At Tales by Chapter, local ingredients are carefully selected, from sourcing to cultivation and harvest. The natural logic of “farm-to-table” led the Tales team to a deeper commitment: “How do we give back to nature?” Partnering with PanNature transforms the dining experience at Tales into tangible action for forests – the origin of life for countless species of flora and fauna.

Previously, Chapter Dining in Hanoi collaborated with PanNature to restore forests in Northern mountainous areas (Van Ho, Mai Chau), setting a strong precedent for cooperation between restaurants and conservation centers.

The collaboration focuses on the Kon Ha Nung Biosphere Reserve (Gia Lai) – the buffer zone of Kon Ka Kinh National Park, prioritizing forest restoration in Kon Pne commune, K’Bang district. This area holds high ecological value and is recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.

Tales proudly sponsors the planting and restoration of 10,000 m² of forest in partnership with PanNature in the Kon Ha Nung World Biosphere Reserve, Gia Lai. Moreover, the Tales staffs will directly participate in on-site tree planting with PanNature. This hands-on experience for the team will not only deliver tangible environmental benefits but will also stem from a personal motivation: living in harmony with nature.

For PanNature, the program focuses on restoring natural forests with native species suited to local ecological conditions, enhancing forest coverage, stabilizing soil and water, and potentially supporting sustainable livelihoods for communities in the long term. The initiative aims to conserve biodiversity while contributing to Vietnam’s greenhouse gas reduction efforts aligned with the national “Net Zero” strategy – a collaborative effort between businesses and communities.

Every meal at Tales, diners contribute to plant a tree

At Tales by Chapter, each menu is more than a culinary journey; diners directly participate in restoring nature with PanNature. Following the philosophy “follow nature – give back to nature”, Tales collaborates with PanNature to transform dining into concrete action: every menu served results in a tree in Vietnam’s forests under the “Regreening Forest” initiative led by PanNature at Kon Ka Kinh – Kon Ha Nung. Resources come from a portion of the menu and event revenues, which are allocated to PanNature for planting, protecting, and restoring forests.

As Chef Truong Quang Dung shared: “The collaboration between Tales and PanNature demonstrates that the F&B industry must also pursue sustainability, starting with tangible contributions to nature.”

Diners love knowing their meal at Tales is helping plant trees in Vietnamese forests

For those who believe that cuisine can go beyond taste, Tales and PanNature offer an invitation to a sustainable culinary journey: mindful eating, living harmoniously with nature, and sowing more green spaces for Vietnam’s forests. One meal – one sapling – one more sustainable future.
